What Is Elemental Conduct?

Elemental Conduct is Grounded Kids Yoga’s classroom management strategy. It is based on the science that our constitution is made of 5 elements, and when these elements are in balance, we conduct ourselves in a balanced, harmonious way. It is highly effective because it serves to meet the needs of each student on a deep level.

What are the 5 elements?

Space, Earth, Water, Fire and Air. The 5 elements are found in all aspects of life and in all things. By knowing which elements are most prevalent in our constitution and which elements we need to cultivate, we are able to bring ourselves into balance.

How does Elemental Conduct work in a class?

Each of the 5 elements is also a type of student. By understanding the characteristics of each element and how an imbalance in the body, too much or not enough, presents physically, emotionally and energetically, we can first work on balancing ourselves and then decide how to serve our students.

We relate each element to specific yoga poses and verbal cues so the teacher knows exactly how to put Elemental Conduct into action.

Why do I start with my own constitution?

Before using this technique in class, it is important to be aware of the element or elements that are most prevalent in your own constitution. Only then will you be able to accurately and objectively assess your students.

What does Elemental Conduct do for my classes?

Harnessing and balancing the power of the elements within you will also help attract all types of students to your class. Using the elements to build dynamic lesson plans will give each type of student what they want as well as what they need and keep them coming back for more.

Where can I learn Elemental Conduct?

Three ways, depending on how deep you want to go. The Grounded in the 5 Elements Webinar Series is a self-paced training you can start today, with four trainings, the full curriculum and the student workbook.

Elemental Conduct is introduced in Step 1 of the Grounded Kids Yoga certification, and Step 3 is where you put it to work, alongside themes, alignment, sequencing and teaching skills. Both are part of the 95 hour kids yoga teacher certification.
