Cheryl Crawford
Biography
Cheryl Crawford is grounded in compassion and elevated in absurdity, and is dedicated to connecting children to the power of seriously playful yoga practices. As co-founder of Grounded, and founder of the non-profit yoga service initiative Atlanta Yoga Movement, she has spent more than a decade fusing Dr. Seuss and other universally loved children’s books with yoga sutras to help kids find peace, poise and playfulness in their everyday lives.
Cheryl’s teaching journey began in an Atlanta elementary school classroom, where she worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist and curriculum coordinator for 11 years. Working in schools and playing with words, she discovered that students were far more connected to their daily lessons when they felt not only heard, but understood. After giving birth to triplet daughters, Cheryl began practicing yoga and then sought a way to pair her newfound dedication to this ancient practice with her love of books and longstanding passion for teaching.
For guidance, all she had to do was listen to the budding yogis and yoginis in her midst.
“I saw that yoga was beneficial to all sorts of people, from three-year-old children to men who were homeless,” says Cheryl, who has taught yoga full-time since 2003. “Each of these populations has a lot to teach each other about the universal truths that can help us all be our best selves. That’s why I make a point of really listening to the people I teach, because I know there are others who can benefit from their wisdom. “
Through breathing and mindful alignment (not to mention the occasional ridiculous rhyme), Cheryl believes that by asking “Are you safe? Are you sound? Are you whole? Are you well?” she can help students of all ages and abilities find the grounding they need to truly soar. Recognized by local, national and international media for her work in yoga education, Cheryl is also certified to teach Anusara, Correlation Vinyasa, Hot Core Power, YogaKids, Laughter Yoga and Radiant Child. Schools, homeless shelters, social workers and more seek Cheryl’s counsel on age- and situation-appropriate yoga curriculums that bring out the best in everyone so they can become open-hearted, flexible and confident on and off their mats.
She is honored to be the first official school yoga coordinator for the state of Georgia and to have her curriculum, United States of You, as part of Dekalb County Schools.

Marthanna MCGaw
Biography
Marthanna is very excited to fuse together two of her passions, yoga and kids!
At a very young age Marthanna’s parents introduced her to yoga, meditation and mindfulness but it wasn’t until 2006 while she was pregnant that she actually started practicing yoga on her mat. At first, the poses helped to alleviate any lower back and hip pain she was experiencing but she noticed that practicing yoga was helping her not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. She knew that the more she practiced, the more her consciousness awakened, bringing light and meaningfulness into every experience. Her practice continued to grow and after realizing how beneficial yoga was to her she wanted to share it with others. In 2015, Marthanna decided to train to become a teacher. She completed her 200 hour YTT at Johns Creek Yoga in August 2015 and is now a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. She currently teaches yoga to adults (and loves it!) but is looking forward to the fun and excitement of teaching kids!
Marthanna is a mother of a ten-year-old and has witnessed the importance of children’s yoga with her own son. As a new graduate from Grounded, she wants to use her training at home, in schools, libraries and recreational centers. She believes strongly in serving her community and plans to do this by helping kids discover their full potential, paving the path to adulthood.

Abby Lauderman
Biography
I attended my first yoga class by accident 14 years ago. A Freshman at Auburn University, I worked part time at our local gym answering the phones. The manager asked for help in the group fitness room… and then I realized I was being tricked to stay for the class. Good thing, because I immediately fell in love with yoga and was hooked for life!
My senior year was spent studying abroad in Rome, Italy, where my personal daily yoga practice quickly turned into a group affair. I studied International Human Sciences that year abroad and my thesis was on cultural differences and nutrition. After months of writing about differences in our world, it dawned on me that yoga is the one thing that can go any place, any time, has no age barrier or even language barrier!
As a mom, I see the magic that happens in my own children through yoga and love sharing that with others. Classes are always open, judgement free, and in a positive environment where children feel safe to be themselves.
A big thank you to the Grounded founders for creating the opportunity, support, and encouragement to combine my love for children along with my passion for yoga!

Amy Haysman
Biography
Amy Haysman, E-RYT 500, RCYT, M.Ed
Founder & Owner, Grounded Kids Yoga
Amy Haysman is the founder and owner of Grounded Kids Yoga, LLC. She began her professional journey teaching Middle School Literature—at an age when she was often mistaken for one of her own students. After realizing (with a laugh) that it’s generally unprofessional to bring a baby to school, Amy took a break to raise her children and earn a Masters in Middle Grades Education.
Searching for purpose, Amy walked into her first yoga class and—just three minutes in—became captivated by the idea of making yoga accessible for all kids. By Savasana, her path was sealed. She earned certifications with YogaKids and Radiant Child, followed by decades of experience teaching children. Amy went on to complete laughter yoga certification, multiple 200-hour adult yoga teacher trainings, a 300-hour certification from Bhakti Yogshala in India, and specialized trauma-informed training.
Today, Amy’s greatest joy is teaching yoga to children and training grown-ups to do the same—whether it’s leading trauma-informed classes, hosting Girl Scout workshops, or creating birthday parties that help kids feel seen and celebrated. Grounded Kids Yoga is built on her conviction that every child deserves the chance to express who they truly are. Helping kids (and their grownups) find grounding, confidence, and joy is not just Amy’s purpose—it’s exactly where she’s meant to be found.
Notes
Amy teaches at yoga clubs and studios in Alpharetta & Johns Creek. Email amy@groundedkids.com for a schedule.

Biography
I first fell in love with yoga when I was a young and somewhat troubled middle school girl. As I grew up I fell more in love with the practice of yoga and as of 2022 decided I was ready to begin sharing this with others, professionally. I received my 200 hour certificate from Peachtree Yoga in December of 2022. After completion of the course I realized just how much the children in my own life need these tools and found Grounded Kids.
Learning about the power of my breath and how to truly be present in the moment helped me to overcome many of my mental battles. I want to share these tools with kids and teens so that they too can win their mental battles and grow through their own physical and energetic practice.
One of my favorite things about yoga is that no one’s personal practice will or should look the same. Our bodies are all so different, as our minds and feelings are too. In my classes, we celebrate our differences – from where we come from to how we show up on our mats.
I find great joy in leading mindful art activities. These crafts can facilitate students to think about their practice in a creative way that has the potential to bring them closer to understanding of their deeper feelings.
