It was a rainy day… A perfect day to do yoga to set my day straight and to breath in my emotions. Sometimes we feel happiness, sometimes we feel sadness, sometimes we feel joy and even stress. There is good stress and there is bad stress. It’s okay to feel these emotions. Let’s honor them all, let’s talk about it and let them guide us to be the best we can be. The Focus Five Prepare to Thrive sequence will help anyone who needs to be calm, relaxed or to become more confident.

Grounded- means happiness to me, it means kind hearted and calmness. It’s something that everyone needs at some point.
Yoga-is a point of view or how you see something different than others.
Grounded Yoga- a point of view that thinks about peace and grouping with others thoughts.
I have been tacking yoga for almost four years and I love it so much.
Yoga is very fun and a little challenging too. I have been doing yoga for 4 years, and I love it. It helps me to concentrate within. Yoga is what makes me flexible in other things I do, like ballet. The meditation really helps. Once I was a little frustrated in the car but I crossed my legs into easy pose and closed my eyes and when we got home from our big drive everything had gone away.

My name is Marlie McConnell. I am nine years old. I live in Atlanta, Georgia and was born here. I have been doing Yoga for four years. I started yoga in Kindergarten because I wanted to try something new. I think it is the best. I go to Wesley International Academy where I also have been learning to speak Chinese. I like to be able to speak Mandarin Chinese because it helps me talk to people who don’t speak my language. I love Art. Making clay sculptures, painting, pastels, and drawing is fun for me. I love to write comics. That’s where I use my drawing skills. In school I really like to write and read. My hobbies are baseball, ballet, Grant Park Singers, piano, and riding my bike. I really like to travel. I have been to visit Costa Rica, Spain, Aruba, and Puerto Rico and have even driven across the United States. I love to travel with my family and see new places and things that I don’t normally see in Atlanta. I have a dog named Red. I like to cuddle and play with him. I have a fish named Ge Wang.
I’m delighted to introduce Lauren, Certified Grounded Kid to you. This is her third year in the Fernbank Elementary after school yoga club. She leads by example how to go from ungrounded to grounded in 60 seconds and I continue to learn from her example.
Have you ever felt like your heart is closed or you’re too stiff to move?
Hi I’m Lauren Stephenson and I used to be like that. Then I did yoga. That changed in the best way.
I became more flexible, open- hearted and many more!
Sometimes it’s hard to stay on your positive side. Like if you forgot your homework at home and you have no idea about anything on the page.
Yoga helped me with that too.
Even if you’re an adult, it can still help. I hope you like it as much as me.
I am Lauren Stephenson. I am in the fourth grade at Fernbank Elementary. I LOVE animals. Especially birds and mammals. I also like thinking and being in nature. I love yoga.
Four boys, ages 5-8, came together to create a yoga sequenced flow appropriate for when we are in an overly energetic, jumping out of our skin state, but want (or are told) to get to a calm, focused state. They were passionate, patient and proud of their creation and energetically worked together.
